Bach Vespers are held on the fourth Sunday of most months at 1830 in St Mary-at-Hill.
A sample programme may be viewed HERE.
They are a Lutheran church service lasting approximately 75 minutes with a Bach Cantata performed using period instruments by the City Bach Collective as an integral part of the service as would have occurred in Bach’s day. Organ preludes and other baroque pieces are also played, and there is a short sermon. The Bach Vespers are unique for the UK and attract many foreign visitors.
More information on the next Vespers is provided on the website of the City Bach Collective.
Information on and photos of the 40th anniversary concert of Bach Cantatas performed in London held in November 2016 is available on
Only about half the cost of the Bach Vespers is covered by the collection and so additional support is needed. To donate to support the continuation of Bach Vespers please follow this LINK
